Understanding Unit Stats
Compare damage, attack interval, placement counts, coverage and investment on equal terms.
1. Read damage and attack interval together
Read damage and attack interval together. Basic direct DPS divides damage per attack by seconds per attack, often abbreviated SPA. An illustrative ten thousand damage every five seconds gives two thousand damage per second. This assumes repeated attacks against an available target. It excludes additional damage effects, missed opportunities and damage unnecessary to finish an enemy.
2. Remember that SPA is an interval
Remember that SPA is an interval. Lower SPA means less time between attacks and therefore greater attack frequency. Reducing a five-second interval by twenty percent makes it four seconds. The same damage divided by four produces twenty-five percent more direct DPS than dividing by five. An interval reduction and damage increase with the same percentage are not mathematically identical.
3. Use placement counts consistently
Use placement counts consistently. Multiplying single-unit DPS by a placement count estimates combined direct output only when every placement can attack under the same assumptions. Compare the same investment stage and respect placement restrictions. The trait calculator uses one placement for its Unique comparison. Multiple units may require more currency, space and time to establish their combined damage.
4. Consider range and coverage as practical constraints
Consider range and coverage as practical constraints. Range affects where enemies can be attacked and how long they remain available. Attack coverage determines whether a unit can address the important enemy at all. Units with similar sheet DPS can therefore perform differently on the same route. Placement, upgrade timing and target access belong beside damage when evaluating a roster slot.
5. Compare costs when you need damage
Compare costs when you need damage. Deployment cost describes the starting purchase, while a full upgrade total describes a larger investment. Neither alone identifies the better opener. Compare what you can afford before the threat arrives, then consider later upgrades. Use the database and team builder to organize your comparison, and test the spending order on the stage you want to improve.
